Bunya Community Environmental Association Inc. (Kumbartcho) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for the conservation of native flora and fauna while fostering a sense of community and environmental awareness. Situated at the heart of the sanctuary, Kumbartcho offers a vibrant combination of walking tracks, native plant propagation, passive and active recreation, and environmental education. With strong ties to the Gubbi Gubbi Aboriginal clan and local history, Kumbartcho aims to honor and preserve its cultural heritage while inspiring passion for the natural world. The organisation has created a harmonious ecosystem that not only safeguards indigenous species but also delights and educates visitors of all ages. Facilities on-site include an environmentally friendly playground, native plant nursery, BBQ facilities, and a unique Environmental Education and Activity Centre. Joining the Kumbartcho team means being part of an enthusiastic and dedicated network of volunteers working hand-in-hand with the Moreton Bay Regional Council to make a lasting impact on our environment. By embodying the community's shared values of conservation, sustainability, and knowledge-sharing, Kumbartcho offers a fulfilling and nurturing environment where you can grow, learn, and contribute to the greater good.
